JohnFarley_HeadshotPresident-Elect John has a great program lined up for us on Monday, October 26, 2015.  John Farley, Chief Meteorologist at WOLO-ABC Columbia, will address the club.  A self described “weather geek”, Farley has been forecasting and studying weather for 20 years.  Please make plans to attend on Monday. What a great meeting to use your VIP pass to host a guest if you haven’t already done so!  Hope everyone has a great weekend and we’ll see you Monday at Rotary.

Earlier this week, President Mark was contacted by President Ben Slingluff at the Dothan Rotary Club in Dothan, AL.  This video was sent to the Dothan club to show them the destruction and devastation our community has experienced in the last two weeks due to the flooding but also to show that we are #SCStrong!

Columbia Rotarians among those affected by the SC Floods

M800115603A message from President Mark:

SC has indeed suffered much loss this week, including quite a number of our Columbia Rotarians.  If your family or another Columbia Rotary member’s family has been directly impacted by this catastrophe, please email me.  We have set up a GoFundMe account through the Columbia Rotary Education Foundation to help with the immediate needs of those in our club who have suffered great material loss in this storm.  Other clubs from all over the country have contacted me and Past President Hal to offer help, and we feel this is a great way for them to provide assistance.  Rotary is first and foremost a service club, so I am confident that you are serving your community in some way at this time.  Thank you for all you are doing on the front lines.  Please continue to monitor the club website and our social media channels as we determine how we can serve our community as a group in the coming days.  For now, please consider giving to the Columbia Rotary Flood Relief GoFundMe account which will go directly to our Rotary members who have been hit the hardest by these floods.  Your donation is tax deductible.  May God richly bless you as you serve those in need.
